Thaipusam

Thaipusam is one of the most important festival events in the Tamil Hindu calendar, particularly in the Southeast Asian region. The word Thaipusam is derived from the month name Thai (January/February) and Pusam, which refers to a star that is at its highest point during the festival. Thousands of devotees perform Kavadi Atam, a piercing ritual and dance worshiping Murugan, the Tamil God of War.
